While I’m not a philosopher and I’ve never seen No Exit performed live, I do know the quote “Hell is other people” comes from this Sartre play. I was hoping to explain the importance of clean, readable code to my Relational Databases with “Hell is other peoples’ code,” but none of my students knew the reference.
For what it’s worth, a guest speaker extended the thought: “Hell is also your own code six months later.”
