{"id":533,"date":"2021-09-02T22:59:21","date_gmt":"2021-09-02T22:59:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/marcschmalz.com\/blog\/?p=533"},"modified":"2021-09-02T22:59:21","modified_gmt":"2021-09-02T22:59:21","slug":"third-card-sort-second-full-revision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/marcschmalz.com\/blog\/third-card-sort-second-full-revision\/","title":{"rendered":"Third Card Sort (Second Full Revision)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ll fill this out more later, but I want to get the basics recorded.<\/p>\n<p>I ran another card sort test on the <a href=\"http:\/\/marcschmalz.com\/blog\/validity-testing-notes\/\">new array of measures<\/a> with folks from the iSchool. I have enough solid measures in each function to run another Prolific test, but the Ideal Identity (IID) category felt weak and I re-wrote some of those. Based on the test, I felt that emotional terms were sorting into Emotional Regulation (EMR) rather than their intended factors, so the new measures are intended to be more emotionally neutral. Any measure using &#8220;feel&#8221; will be reconsidered, even outside of IID<\/p>\n<table width=\"1050\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"516\">OLD<\/td>\n<td width=\"534\">NEW<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"516\">It is important that I will be satisfied with the completed product.<\/td>\n<td width=\"534\">When completed, the product will express something about who I am.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"516\">I feel personally invested in the successful completion of the product.<\/td>\n<td width=\"534\">The product expresses something about who I want to be.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"516\">The product helps me feel more like the person I want to be.<\/td>\n<td width=\"534\">The product brings me closer to the person I want to be.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>I might not bother with the first one. It\u2019s still forward-looking, where \u201cwho I want to be\u201d is more about now.\u00a0 \u201cRight now, I want X\u201d vs \u201cIn the future, I will be X\u201d where X is the ideal.<\/p>\n<p>I did run the test once more, this time with my undergrad who just read the first half of Dittmar for our weekly discussion. (I was telling her how I was using Dittmar, and she wanted to do it.) Her responses reinforce what we\u2019ve seen, basically.<\/p>\n<p>These are on the \u201cjust get rid of them\u201d list, having tested really poorly or, in the case of the memorabilia measures, being too theoretically confused to be valid.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>I feel a sense of pride when I think of the product. (EMR)<\/li>\n<li>The product is what I want to work on now. (AID)<\/li>\n<li>I feel the product will influence the future of the whole field. (IID)<\/li>\n<li>I am improving professionally as I work on the product. (IID)<\/li>\n<li>I keep memorabilia regarding past products in my work space. (PRH)<\/li>\n<li>I intend to keep memorabilia from this project. (PRH)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Measure 5 tested well, but doesn&#8217;t even mention the product, so probably measures PRH but not for the product. Measure 6 is another forward-looking statement, and unnecessary in the scope of the current work.<\/p>\n<p>I think there&#8217;s something to explore through a study of developers receiving or keeping memorabilia from projects, but it doesn&#8217;t have to be now.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ll fill this out more later, but I want to get the basics recorded.
